The Southeast Volusia Manufacturing and Technology Coalition (SEVMTC), a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering collaboration between local employers, educational and technical institutions, and CareerSource Flagler Volusia as well as the cities of New Smyrna Beach, Edgewater, and Oak Hill, successfully hosted a Career and Job Fair on May 10, 2023, at New Smyrna Beach high School. The event aimed to provide students with access to a range of employment opportunities, summer jobs, and avenues for career development and workforce training as summer vacation and graduation approach.
The Career and Job Fair brought together prominent organizations such as Daytona State College, EPIC Flight Academy, and Northwest Lineman College. These institutions not only offered valuable career certifications but also provided insights into future employment opportunities available within their respective industries.
Jess Thompson, a distinguished attendee at the event and a Volusia County School Board Member, expressed her enthusiasm for SEVMTC Job Fair. She remarked, "The SEVMTC job Fair was such a lively and engaging experience for our students to choose from. There was something for everyone, and our students and families appreciated the business community within our very own high school. As a Volusia County School Board member, it warms my heart to see this dedication to our students."
The Career and Job Fair served as a platform for students to explore various career paths and interact directly with employers and educational institutions. It showcased the commitment of SEVMTC and it's partners to empower the youth of New Smyrna Beach, Edgewater and Oak Hill by providing them with the resources and opportunities necessary for a successful transition into the workforce.
